Orthotics

Orthotics is the field concerned with the application and manufacture of orthoses, devices which support or correct human posture and function.  The term is derived from the Greek “ortho”, which means to straighten.

Benefits of Orthotics

  • Allow the muscles, tendons, and bones of the feet and lower legs to function at their highest potential.
  • Can decrease pain not only in the feet, but also the knees, hips, and low back.
  • Can increase the stability in an unstable joint.
  • Can often increase endurance, performance, and strength for individuals who are active.

Orthotics can be prescribed in several different ways according to the needs of the patients.

  • Over the counter– made for people that need minor support but can not make any significant adjustments
  • Semi-Custom—a more rigid orthotic that is made with corrections of specific foot deformities.
  • Custom—an orthotic that is custom molded to the individual and the specific materials and corrections can be prescribed.

Orthotics - A-line SystemAt Trinity Sports Medicine, we use the  A-line system to provide patients with a cost effective way to receive semi-custom orthotics. If a custom orthotic is needed, the patient will meet with National Rehabilitation Services here at our Wintersville Office.

Some insurances may or may not cover orthotics. Each case will be dealt with on an individual business. A-Line Orthotics are a self pay product. The cost is $60.00 for the evaluation and fitting. Please see the A-Line Brochure if interested in a semi-custom foot orthotic.
