Trinity Sports Medicine offers several various form of diagnostic imaging within the physician office. We also have access to more advanced techniques within the hospital center.

In the physician office, the patient will have access to general x-ray exam and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound. These are the most cost effective and immediate forms of diagnostic exams available today. General x-ray is an effective way to evaluate the integrity of the bony structures of the body.

However, ultrasound can be used to quickly look at tendons, ligaments, and joints. The benefits of diagnostic ultrasound is that it can give immediate pictures to the physician, it can be repeated several times through out the healing process, and it does not use ionizing radiation to the patient.

MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging provides an unparalleled view inside the human body and allows you doctor a highly detailed look at soft tissue, ligaments, tendons, and bone.

MRA or Magnetic Resonance Arthrogram is also available. This procedure a study of the inside of a joint using contrast or dye. This lets the Doctor evaluated smaller defects in the joint capsule, ligaments, or cartilage by determining if the dye is allowed to leak thru small tears or defects.

Fluoroscopy is a continuous x-ray beam that is passed through the body. The technique allows the doctor to observe how a part of the body performs its normal function. It is also helpful in some injections that allows the doctor to see the needle placement prior to injection.
