Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)

What is nerve conduction velocity ?
Nerve conduction velocity test which is also referred to as a nerve conduction study. The NCV is a measurement of the speed of conduction of an electrical impulse through the nerve. NCV can determine nerve damage and destruction.

During the test, the nerve is stimulated, usually with surface electrode patches attached to the skin. A very mild electrical impulse is transmitted into the electrode. The electrical activity is recorded and will give an indication of nerve damage and destruction.
